Caltrain recently launched an all-electric seven-car train service between San Francisco and San Jose on September 21, 2024. It provides commuter rail service along the San Francisco Peninsula, to the South Bay in San Jose and Gilroy. This new service shortens travel times, reduce air and noise pollution with zero-emission service. There are 16 stations along the entire line and the trains operate every 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours, weekend trains arriving twice hourly and express service from San Francisco to San Jose in under an hour. There is also free Wi-Fi, onboard digital displays, power outlets at each forward-facing seat, energy-efficient lighting, and baby-changing tables in the bathrooms.
